About the photographer

Sherman Morss, Jr., known to his friends as “Pat,” grew up in New England. After forty years, photography remains his “raison d'etre” for travel, from Baffin Island to southern Patagonia and Europe to New Zealand. Pat's involvement with national parks, museums, native peoples, and preservation of the natural and built environments, has opened up many photographic opportunities. His book Boston Harbor Islands is one testament to his craft. Pat retains an architecture practice which focuses on historic preservation and contextual design, including award-winning projects such as New York 's Ellis Island Museum of Immigration and the restored Federal Courthouse in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
